Food For Thought

This should come as no surprise, but one of THE fastest growing parts of Dallas right now is the Henderson area .... Victor Tango's, Hattie's, Pearl Cup and all the cute boutiques up and down Henderson.

Last night my husband and I celebrated the grand opening of a new italian joint with a few hundred strangers at urbino pizza e pasta located at 2323 Henderson, Dallas TX. They were offering free sips and bites as a welcome to the neighborhood.

The place has a modern, clean feel with bar seating, family-style bench seating as well as a couch/lounge-y area with a garage door that lifts up to patio for al fresco dining. An italian version of MTV was playing and the dining room was adorned with vintage italian posters.

Try the white cheese pizza - I grabbed a menu and left it at home so I can't tell you the exact name :( feta, goat cheese and something magical. They also feature a frozen limoncello cocktail, panninis, pastas, you name it. They make their crusts with flax seed - which, my friends, is impressive.

I never turn down free, but this is worth going back for! The food was fantastic. Think bachelorette parties, girl's night out, etc!

Sweet Success!

Kelly from Sweet Pea Events and Sage Wedding Pros hosted a workshop last Saturday for newbies to the wedding business, like me! She gave many fantastic business strategies, insider tips as well as great advice. Not to mention she had the most creatively decorated table and provided awesome materials for us. It was also wonderful meeting other people looking to start a business like mine. Definitely worth getting up for at 7 am on a Saturday. :) Here's a peek...

Extracurricular Activities

I feel like I am getting all into the back 2 school mode since fall is just around the corner! Right now I'm blogging from my new laptop... and let's face it, I'm just as excited {if not more excited!} about my adorable new computer bag! It's basically a giant purse on the outside, but padded and built for a laptop, cell phone and other gadgets on the inside.

Of course, these items will come in handy this Saturday while I'm attending a wedding coordinator's seminar hosted by Sweet Pea Events. I'm also looking forward to checking out The Cascades Event Center in The Colony, where the seminar will be held.

Then, Saturday night Doug and I get to re-live our wedding day memories for my favorite photographer, Shan Renee, who is hosting a photography seminar. Shan really is the BEST, {and I'm not just saying that because she shot our wedding} she's won national competitions for her work with flare {ya know, the use of sunlight, moonlight or artificial lighting in a photo.} We are staging the entire thing as if it were our wedding day, at a downtown b&b The Corinthian. I'm hopeful that we'll even be able to use our sparklers this time around! {On our wedding day it rained cats and dogs, and we weren't able to pull the sparklers off! Our guests tossed petals instead and we did it indoors! Thankfully, Shan braved the storm to capture us leaving.}

Happy autumn, everyone.

Robin and Ben Remix

I am still figuring out the best way to feature weddings in a way that's easy for future brides to see what's been done in the past...basically the best way to showcase each wedding! So...here's a little experiment, a remix on Robin and Ben, if you will. I don't have the photographer's photos yet so the only ones I have to play around with are the few I took on my camera phone and a few from the sister of the groom.

Robin Honeycutt & Ben Garcia

July 24, 2009

I had the privilege to work with Robin Honeycutt to coordinate her wedding weekend. She was such a laid-back bride and everything was beautiful! The story of Ruth and Boaz in the Bible provided the insipiration for the flora and fauna. The groom even wrote Robin a beautiful letter entitled, "I want to be your Boaz."

Venue: Hickory Street Annex
Caterer: Eddie Deen's
Florist: The Blooming Bride
